poem: Without Him Here

Without Him Here

is this madness that closes in
pressing silence down into me?

i move from room to room
quiet and contained
while inside me
she is running
as though there are
stretched hallways
extending forever
to an end
that can't be reached.

...everywhere is empty
without him here...

a bowl of ketchup
falls from my
shaking hands
on the kitchen floor
