poem: pale girl goes south

pale girl goes south

go greyhound, they say
well i say, no way!

drivers popping pills with
rest stops that are too few
and far between - myself
paler with each hour as
I watch the markers of
miles run behind. . .

hey pale girl, you're from where?
you sure are a ways from there
best get back on your bus
and be gone - even strangers
can tell when you don't belong.
