poem: i wanted to touch the moon

i wanted to touch the moon but it
looks as though someone else did
it first - held my thumb to the sky
level with my eye - just as i thought,
smudge of grey with chalk white
clouds making like a snowstorm
hard to see luna's full-figured form

there will be no viewing tonight
nor will a star glow, for me, bright.
