poem: appetite

i want to be done
in the way that we
are (you & me) gone
but all these years on

wondering how many
others you've eaten
out stripped the flesh
struck bone picked their

skin out of your other-
world teeth meanwhile
that smile of yours, oh
does it hide that hunger

still, you had your share
and when you tell them
you've had enough and
no doubt you have, yes,

but really, could you ever?
